The best way to keep any small engine performing well is to keep it in the best possible condition. Besides from sheltering your equipment, this also means doing some preventative maintenance. A good spring tune up involves replacing all spark plugs, the oil filter, the air filter, and the fuel filter. Some machines require pre-filters as well. As well as changing your filters you should change the oil and treat your gas tank with an Enzyme such as StarStron's StarBrite to prevent ethanol fuel problems.
